Open Access Policy

The Revista Alimentación y Ciencia de los Alimentos (RAYCA) is an open-access scientific journal published by the University of Guadalajara through the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences, the Division of Veterinary Sciences, and the Department of Public Health.

RAYCA adopts a non-commercial, non-profit open-access model. All content published by the journal is made immediately, freely, and permanently available for reading, downloading, copying, distribution, printing, searching, linking, and reuse, in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

The journal does not charge submission fees, editorial processing fees, peer-review fees, editing fees, or article publication charges. Likewise, no subscription or access fees are charged to readers, institutions, or libraries. RAYCA’s editorial operations are supported through institutional funding provided by the University of Guadalajara and the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences.

Articles published in RAYCA are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This license permits users to share, copy, distribute, publicly communicate, and adapt published content, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the original source of publication is cited, a link to the article and its corresponding DOI is included, the material is not used for commercial purposes, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.

Authors retain copyright of their works and grant RAYCA a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, preserve, and disseminate the article in print and digital media, repositories, databases, scientific information systems, indexes, and academic platforms.

RAYCA allows authors to self-archive their manuscripts. Preprint, accepted, and published versions may be deposited in institutional, disciplinary, or personal repositories, provided that the complete bibliographic reference of the final published version, the link to the published article, and the DOI (when available) are clearly indicated.

The journal promotes the open circulation of scientific knowledge as a public good under the principles of academic integrity, equity, inclusion, bibliodiversity, multilingualism, and social responsibility. Consequently, the use of published content does not require prior authorization from the journal, provided that such use complies with the terms established by the applicable Creative Commons license.

RAYCA maintains its complete archival collection on the journal’s official website and is committed to the long-term digital preservation of its contents through institutional platforms, academic repositories, backup systems, and editorial interoperability mechanisms. Published content will be preserved through the institutional repository of the University of Guadalajara, and its visibility will be strengthened through the information systems and indexing services in which the journal participates, in accordance with the digital preservation policies and mechanisms established by those platforms.
